An exercise in mixing and using more desaturated colors, this painting easily lends itself to the ideas of finding soul-level beauty and plentiful wisdom in the segments of time that we perceive to be strenuous or unforgiving.

Our natural tendency is to reach for light and bask in the sun. It warms us, seems to nurture joy, and lends itself easily to colorful gratitude. But sometimes, the specific strength and clarity that blossoms within us when we let our humanness unfold inside of difficulty can only grow in somber shades of gray.

The kind of beauty that needs the quiet moments of darkness would be scorched by the sun.
