Continuing the commentary on winter, in both the literal and figurative senses of the word, this painting is a fantastical representation of the splendor to be found in a season that is often deemed to be desolate, frigid, and void of life. 

What wonder there is to be discovered in the winter months. Countless numbers of minute, elaborately detailed snowflakes form blankets of unblemished snow, bringing with it the most astounding quiet. Where a rainstorm is revitalizing in its incessant pitter patter and nourishing moisture, snowfall brings an incomparable sense of calm, gentleness, and clarity to a world that is usually teeming with complex activity and restlessness.

Here, this brilliant calm is represented in patches and sections of pastel colors. Bold application of paint and playful color choices relay the message that winter, in both weather pattern and life circumstance, can be the opposite of barren. Winter can often bring life-giving clarity and wonder.
