What started as a plein-air painting (done outdoors in direct response to the scene), morphed into a much more playful representation of a budding maple tree branch. This wild, loopy painting complete with drips and drawn lines matches the emotionally jubilant experience I was met with while basking in the sunlight and studying the brand new spring maple buds.

My childlike curiosity and amazement took over as I played with vibrant yellows and greens and experimented with drawn lines and scribbles. A perfect portrayal of the wonderment felt in seeing new, bright life emerge from a simple twig.
