In this process-based painting, I made conscious efforts to relax into lowered expectations and to embrace the unclenched sensations of loosening up.

I thoughtfully covered up layers of paint without fear of disturbing the composition, I worked to boldly lay down swatches of color, and I practiced letting the painting breathe when my tendency would be to adjust certain aspects of it.

This piece was a wonderfully crucial exercise in welcoming some discomfort and settling into equanimity.
