Like its larger cousin, The Sun Keeps Rising, the technique by which this painting was created felt similar to a quilt being crafted, swatch by swatch, piece by piece, brushstroke by brushstroke. It was slow and thoughtful and consistently intentional, with so much meaning layered in with each bold stroke.
Sometimes the thoughtful process is even more important than the final product. Maybe even most of the time.
