In some ways, this piece is a daring departure from the cool color palettes that make their way into my work, but in others, this exploration is fresh in a way that feels exhilarating and somehow familiar.

Unbeknownst to me, I began this piece in the very early days of my pregnancy, before we knew there was a new little life growing inside me. It seems like the stars aligned as this piece took a new kind of turn and I highlighted different palette choices, explored new mark-making techniques, and employed bold applications of layered colors - all while we were gearing up for a divine and uncharted journey in our lives.

It’s thrilling, transformative, intense, and profound. The painting and this life.
