Funnily enough, this painting started out as an exploration of maple buds emerging from a tree branch in the spring just when everything was starting to wake up from the sleepy winter months.

The piece’s transition became one of moving through the seasons, going from spring and concluding in a representation of those sweet weeks in late summer when autumn is just beginning to make an appearance.

Complete with scribbly blues and soft whites, navy drips, and patches of the vibrant green beneath, this painting shines with the addition of burnt oranges that signal the changing of the leaves.
