The air is cool and crisp and the undeniable chill signals the coming of even icier weather. It’s cold and often gray and usually means more and more layers until we find ourselves in winter coats and mittens. Sometimes it feels like a sad song, sometimes like a death. Autumn sometimes feels like saying goodbye. Goodbye to sun and warmth and bathing suits. Goodbye to the beach and vitamin D and days off. And yet…in the midst of such a drastic transition, Autumn dares to glow.
Autumn dares to be seen. Autumn doesn’t creep in and steal our joy in the night. Autumn bursts in and shines, reminding us it’s okay to be alive and to let go.
With October comes the audaciously glowing golds of leaves that are still hugging branches. October brings ambers and oranges that positively vibrate against bright blue skies. October boasts brazen crimsons that dare to shine in the face of such transition. The world can be excruciating and impossibly heavy, but still, October glows.
October Glow, the sister painting to Fire Sky, feels like an embrace. The enveloping glow of the woods is waiting to welcome us into the thick of it - even in the midst of a painful, grieving goodbye, we’re invited to experience vibrant leaves swaying and falling in a celebratory dance, reminding us that even in the misery, October glows.
