If you know me, you know I don’t believe that rainy days are gloomy or that winter is barren. I also don’t believe that autumn has to mean death, at least not in the morbid sense of the word.

It seems we are quick to love the things that appear pleasant and resent the things that may require a closer look to find meaning in. But maybe moving to get a closer look reveals what we never could have seen while basking in the summer sun.

The warm tones and whimsical, drawn lines of this painting serve as a reminder that autumn signals an abundant, celebratory harvest in many cultures and that the fall season is the beginning of the cool-down. Autumn opens the door to a resting period where we can catch our breath and melt into the much needed quiet. Not much can beat the mild weather or smell of crisp leaves, anyway.
