Streaks of Rain

(This smaller painting is a reference to my continual fascination and reverence for rain inspired by two larger pieces, The Sound of Rain and Rain Runs Through My Veins)
There is such an ease in the way rain falls from the mysterious clouds above, the way droplets form effortless streams on windows that drip and run down after each other, the way gravity longingly pulls every drop down to the earth in a trillion little kisses, rejuvenating the parched soil, watering the tiniest plants, quenching the thirst of countless beings, drenching the tallest trees, offering life to all of us alike. Such endless beauty there is to be found in what we deem to be the inconvenience of a rainy day.
Some seasons are unwaveringly painful and overwhelming, but that doesn’t have to mean that they are devoid of all joy or goodness. In fact, it is in our very nature as resilient humans to discover goodness in times of despair. This piece serves as a reminder to remain open to the contrasts of life: the sunny times and the rainy days, dismissing the idea that in a hierarchy of important life experiences, rainy days are less important than those of easy joy.
