Using whimsical components such as subtle color shifts that meet bold edges and drawn turquoise marks that bring texture to patches of green, navy, and bronze, I was able to express one of my many, individual expressions of the natural world in this painting.

In doing so, this piece explores the roles that individualized perception and experience play in the varied ways we interact with the world and interpret the many facets of the human experience. No two people are identical in story, understanding, background, or emotional landscape, so how can we expect or hope that our perception or belief will be the same? Embracing and celebrating the impossibility of all of us having identical belief systems or understandings can only equal a rich opportunity to foster empathy and beauty that know no bounds.
